Voluntary Action Center

Who We Are

Voluntary Action Center developed in 1971 by the Junior League of Scranton was established to assess the need, develop and promote the growth of volunteerism.  Voluntary Action Center today is a non-profit umbrella organization dedicated to the concept of people helping people in Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wayne and Pike Counties.

We are an Information and Volunteer Clearinghouse providing services to individuals and community organizations in the areas of volunteerism, mentoring, information/referral and prevention.

Our mission, as our name implies, is rooted in "action". We exist both to help people and inspire others to do the same.  from the very young, through programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters, to the very old, providing Medicare counseling for seniors, and every age in between, we connect people with the volunteers, programs, and services they need most.
