Who We Are

UCP of Northeastern Pennsylvania is a private, non-profit agency chartered in 1953 and operated by a volunteer board of directors. The agency provides services to children and adults with disabilities and other special needs and their families.

Mission: To provide opportunities and resources to individuals with disabilities as they build and lead their lives in the community. We do this by providing advocacy, home and community supports and education.

Vision: UCP respects each person, her/his choices, and her/his contributions.

What We Do

  • Early Intervention - educational activities and therapy services provided for children in their homes, day care centers and preschools.
  • Lekotek - adaptive toy lending library and family resource center.
  • Compuplay - computer-based educational, recreational and social activities program for children and teens with special needs.
  • Adult Training Program - educational activities, skills training, recreational and social activities program for adults with intellectual disabilities.
  • Community Options - transportation and other supports for adults in the training program to participate in community activities.
  • Community Living Arrangements - full-time assistance and supervision for 2-4 adults with developmental disabilities who share¬†private homes in the community.
  • Supported Independent Living Program - part-time assistance for adults with disabilities living in their own apartments.
  • Elks Home Services - advocacy, referral and other assistance provided for children and adults with special needs and their families.
  • Assistive Technology Resource Center - information, training services, referral and other assistance for children and adults who can benefit from adapted devices.
