Day of Caring 2017

Lend your muscle! Nancy Jackson Memorial Day of Caring

Our annual Day of Caring is one great day of giving back!

On Thursday, September 7th you're invited to roll up your sleeves and make a difference by joining hundreds of volunteers throughout Lackawanna and Wayne Counties. Work hands-on to improve lives and create lasting, positive change in our community with United Way’s Nancy Jackson Memorial Day of Caring! This one-day volunteer endeavor has been an annual tradition of caring since 1994 and has grown to be the premiere volunteer effort in our community with the value of completed projects through the years surpassing the $2.5 million mark.

The volunteer projects include landscaping, painting, cleaning, maintenance, beautification, direct client interaction and scores of other critical tasks to benefit the local organizations making a difference in our community everyday.

Pitch in. Give back. Join us.

Who we are

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Council was formed in 1991 with the consolidation of the Forest Lakes Council and the Wyoming Valley Councils Boy Scouts of America.  The Boy Scouts of America is of the nations largest value based youth organizations.  For the past 102 years, we have provided a program for young people that builds citizenship, develops personal fitness through a wide range of outdoor and educational activities.

The mission statement of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

What we do

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Council provides programs for boys and girls throughout the year through our established Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing and Learning for Life programs.  The Scoutreach program within the Northeast Pennsylvania Council provides culturally and economically diverse youth the opportunity to join the scouting program.  During the summer we also provide Summer Day Camp and Resident Camp opportunities for boys ages 7 through 21.
