Day of Caring 2017

Lend your muscle! Nancy Jackson Memorial Day of Caring

Our annual Day of Caring is one great day of giving back!

On Thursday, September 7th you're invited to roll up your sleeves and make a difference by joining hundreds of volunteers throughout Lackawanna and Wayne Counties. Work hands-on to improve lives and create lasting, positive change in our community with United Way’s Nancy Jackson Memorial Day of Caring! This one-day volunteer endeavor has been an annual tradition of caring since 1994 and has grown to be the premiere volunteer effort in our community with the value of completed projects through the years surpassing the $2.5 million mark.

The volunteer projects include landscaping, painting, cleaning, maintenance, beautification, direct client interaction and scores of other critical tasks to benefit the local organizations making a difference in our community everyday.

Pitch in. Give back. Join us.

Who we are

Meals on Wheels of NEPA is a private non-profit agency that prepares and delivers  meals to the elderly and/or disabled in Lackawanna County. We have been meeting the nutritional needs in our community since 1969. Currently, more than 800 elderly and disabled persons receive a home delivered meal each weekday. A Registered Dietitian directs the program, and supervises the preparation of the meals each day.

We are Meals on Wheels So That No Senior Goes Hungry

What we do

We prepare and deliver meals to the elderly and/or disabled persons in Lackawanna County.

Our program could not succeed without the support of 120+ volunteers willing to deliver meals on a regular basis. This hot meal is the main meal of the day for most of the recipients, and for some, contact with the volunteer delivering the meal is the only consistent visit they receive.
