  • The Voluntary Action Center's Directors of Volunteers in Alliance First Quarterly Meeting

Please join us for the First Quarterly DOVIA Meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 9-11 am at VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant, PA (please see below for parking information). Our guest speaker will be Karen Daly Smith, Vice President of Programs for the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. Our topic, "Elevator Speech - Making a statement with an impact". From our presenter: So... tell me about your organization. Imagine you are on an elevator and someone asks you that question. You have a great opportunity and a very short window to respond. What you say in the next 60 seconds can make a huge difference. Now, multiply that situation by everyone of your volunteers. Increased awareness can have a direct positive impact for you in recruiting, retaining and expanding your volunteers. It also can increase your donor base. For the March forum, we will be working to develop and practice our "elevator speech". We will also identify techniques that you can use to help your volunteers be more prepared to answer that question and therefore, be an added voice for you in the community. In preparation for the session, here are a few questions to consider when putting together your elevator speech. Please take the time to make some notes prior to the session. Who are youWho do you helpWhat problem do you addressWhat they get - (who you serve) results & benefitsOpportunities to get involvedGoals for the organizationWhat makes us uniqueWhat analogies / pictures can you use This session will give you an opportunity to understand the impact, refine your own elevator speech and be better able to train your volunteers. Please RSVP by Thursday, March 12, 2015. VNA is located at 301 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant, PA.  They are requesting that all meeting attendees park in the parking lot behind the building.  Access to the parking lot is  located on Church Street (Once you pass the front of the building and get to the first stop sign make a right onto Church Street the entrance will be ahead on the right hand side).  Please use back door entrance and follow signs to the meeting room.
