  • Empty Place at the Table

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and one way the Women’s Resource Center raises awareness of the impact of domestic violence on our community is through our Empty Place at the Table exhibit. An Empty Place at the Table honors those individuals from Lackawanna and Susquehanna counties whose lives were tragically cut short due to domestic violence.  Each place at the table is unique in that personal items from the individuals are displayed, so that each place setting serves as a beautiful, touching, and distinctive memorial. The empty place settings are a constant reminder to inspire hope and reform in the realm of domestic violence. Awareness is the first step in preventing another empty place at the table.
